Overview
Board of Zoning Appeals Responsibilities
- To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, interpretation or determination made by an administrative official in the administration or enforcement of this Zoning Code, unless otherwise provided in this Code.
- To authorize such variances from the terms of this Zoning Code pertaining to single-family residences in Residential Districts, except as otherwise specified in this Code, as will not be contrary to the public interest where, owing to the special conditions, a literal enforcement of this Code will result in practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of this Code shall be observed and substantial justice done.
- To permit the completion, restoration, reconstruction, expansion or extension of a nonconforming single-family residence in a Residential District where the enforcement of the regulations pertaining to nonconforming lots or buildings will result in unnecessary hardship.
- To provide a finding in writing that the reasons set forth in an application for a variance justify the granting of the variance.
- To adopt rules or bylaws for the holding of regular and special meetings, for the transaction and disposition of its business and the exercise of its powers.
Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting Dates and Deadlines
The Board meets the 2nd Monday of each month. Typically meetings are at 6:00 pm @ City Hall in City Council Chambers. Deadlines for applications to the Board are 21 days prior to the meeting date.
