Building & Engineering
The City of Stow Building and Engineering Departments are responsible for issuing permits and monitoring various aspects of construction for building and engineering projects within the City. We hope this site will provide you with the information you need to make an application for the required permits. Our goal is to protect the public's life, health, safety, and welfare as it relates to construction practices and provide excellent customer service. Please contact us at 330-689-2729 if you have any questions.
Online Permit Access and Processing Portal
We have a NEW permit application submittal and permit processing website. This new portal provides many enhancements to the City of Stow’s online permitting capabilities. You can now submit an online application from anywhere, 24/7, monitor the status of the application online, receive notifications via email as your application is reviewed and processed, request inspections, communicate with inspectors or staff, pay for permits, receive documents and allow contractors to register online. First time visitors to the site will have to create an account and password and an online profile. All forms, permits, inspection requests and contractor registrations can be found on the portal.
Inspections
The City of Stow Building Department offers same-day inspection. You must call in your inspection before 9 am that day. Any inspection called in after 9 am will be performed on the following day. Electric and plumbing inspections are completed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the morning. For an inspection request, call 330-689-2728.

Permit Guides
Call Before You Dig
The Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) has a new number 811. A new federally-mandated national "Call Before You Dig" number, 811 was created to help protect you from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects. Building a deck? Planting a tree? Installing a mailbox? 811 is the new number you should call before you begin any digging. Its a free service and it is the law. For more information, visit the Call811 website.
Engineering Drawings
Engineering Drawings are located in our Permits, Forms, and Drawings Center. If you have any questions, please contact our department at 330-689-2719.
