Stars Over Silver Springs: Astronomy Watch Party

Thursday, April 23, 2026

Parking: Baseball Fields

Due to the aligning of the stars and the potential cloud cover, the astronomers have advised moving to our scheduled rain date of Thursday, April 23, same time and place.

This event is part of a special series celebrating the Silver Springs Campground 50th Anniversary!

Stars Over Silver Springs: Astronomy Watch Party

Join us for a magical evening under the night sky at Silver Springs Park on Groundhog Hill. Local hobby astronomers will guide participants through the wonders above, pointing out constellations, planets, and other celestial sights. Guests will have the opportunity to view the night sky through telescopes and learn more about what’s visible overhead.

7:45 PM - Arrive
8:12 PM - Sunset
8:41 PM - Nautical Twilight
9:16 PM - Astronomical Twilight

Helpful Tips for the Best Stargazing Experience

  • Please plan to arrive close to the event start time, as late arrivals with headlights can disrupt everyone’s night vision. It takes about 20 minutes for eyes to fully adjust to the dark after exposure to bright lights.
  • To help preserve night vision, please use red-light flashlights if possible (or cover your flashlight with red cellophane).
  • Guests are encouraged to bring binoculars or telescopes to enhance their viewing experience. You may also want to download the free Star Walk 2 stargazing app to your mobile device before arriving to help identify objects in the night sky.
  • Don’t forget to bring chairs or blankets and bug spray so you can relax and enjoy a comfortable, informal evening of star-watching with family and friends.

RAIN DATE:  Thurs., April 23 (same times)
