City of Stow Arts Commission Traffic Box Art

Artwork covering traffic signal boxes throughout the City of Stow: Over a year ago it was an idea developed by the Stow Arts Commission and the City of Stow. Calling this innovative venture into street art a success would be an understatement, and that was just the beginning. Those that went up in 2021 will be seen through 2023, as part of a three-year rotation. 8 by 10 prints from this first phase are available for purchase at $25 each.

Phase Two, with 19 boxes planned for this year, begins in the spring with installation to be completed by June 17, 2022. This year boxes will be seen on Kent Road, Fishcreek Road, Hudson Dr., and Steels Corners Road The Arts Commission intends to offer sponsorships to residents and businesses, with proceeds going to all projects presented by the Stow Arts Commission, with the eventual hope that someday participating artists could be compensated.

There will be three Sponsorship levels: $500, $250, and $50:

  • $500: 3 inches by 4 inches space within the art itself, featuring the name, website, photo, etc.
    • Framed 11 by 14 print of the art
    • A picture with the Mayor at the box
    • Certificate
  • $250: Framed 8 by 10 print of box art
    • A picture with the Mayor at the box
    • Certificate
  • $50: Friend of the Arts Commission
    • Unframed 8 by 10 print of choice
    • Certificate

Private and business sponsorships are entirely voluntary and all proceeds will go to Arts Commission-based projects. The traffic signal box art is an ongoing program from the City of Stow through the Stow Arts Commission. Each piece of box art is covered against any kind of damage by the City of Stow and will be on display for three years from the date of installation.
